I recently rejoined my library to discover that it has quite a fantastic DVD and video section. I borrowed Children of Men, A Bridge Too Far and Citizen Kane, as well as Air's Moon Safari and the book Israel and the Clash of Civilisations by Jonathan Cook.

Children of Men was great. The atmosphere of a world gone mad is incredibly convincing and with the solid acting from all it was amazingly immersing. The action sequence at the end is intense to say the least. Highly recommended. Also, Clive Owen is amazing I need to watch more movies with him in them, any recommendations (sans King Arthur)?

I also greatly enjoyed A Bridge Too Far, part war film, part documentary it perfectly balances the harsh reality of war, with black comedy to make an informative and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The combat sequences are amazingly visceral, the music and the sound in general is top notch (though I must say the music is often too loud) and the pacing is fantastic. The only flaws being that it's a tad bit long clocking in at two hours fifty.

Haven't seen Citizen Kane yet and Moon Safari was a bit disappointing considering the single La Femme D'Argent is sublime.

Israel & the Clash of Civilisations so far (I'm about a third of the way through) is a fascinating read about the situation in the Middle East and the various parties who want to control it and why. In a wonderfully unbiased manner no side is depicted as either good or bad (other than as much as their actions so far would make you believe). A must read for anyone with any interest in the happenings in the region.

I also saw Dismember the saturday before last. I came in about half way through Killrazer's set who, like all the others on the bill, were good but nothing special, save maybe Lycanthia but that's mostly because symphonic black metal was a bit out of place. After having a breather during Terrorust's set I returned to see 25 minutes of Dismember, which made all the waiting worth it. They put on an absolutely fantastic show.

The Mighty Boosh Season 3 is side-splittingly hilarious. Watch it.

Hey lima :P What've you been up to lately? By the way, now that I'm finally getting a few of my projects on the go, was wondering, you think you'd be interested in doing some album art?
